100 Years BPV

The Foreign Press Association of the Netherlands celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2025! This remarkable milestone honors a century of journalism and international connection.

We invite members and friends to join our special events.

“…on various occasions of important and international nature in this country, the foreign press was completely shut down without it being possible to say that such negation was deliberate”.

With these words, on November 14th, 1925 W.N.J van Ditmar explained the need of an association of the foreign press in the Netherlands. Ditmar, London Times correspondent, became the first president of the new entity. Today we celebrate 99 years since that crucial moment. We will make our history known to the world in the months to come. A year from now we will be proud to say:

We are still here after 100 years! The Foreign Press Association of the Netherlands now enters its jubilee year.

This is how our jubilee year started: with beautiful smiling faces! We spent a wonderful afternoon with many friends of the Foreign Press Association.

Thank you, Mauritshuis - Martine Gosselink and Boris de Munnick- for being wonderful hosts! The 100-year celebration is getting closer and closer!

We support our members. We open doors. We stand up for freedom of the press.
